This city had become so lonely. The naive fish had understood this the day she woke up, teal optics viewing the room as she perceived them in various shades of monochrome. Adventurous spirit had calmed within the walls of this experiment, like ripples on a still of water after an outside force penetrated it’s surface. These effects were fading away, the reality sinking in as she sat silently in the bed, blank walls consuming her strained vision.

Chest tightened as she began to feel confined like before; this time she had nobody special to endure it with. What used to call to her became nothing but a numbing hum, eyes easing as she let her tin drop and a hand rest upon her chest.

Slowly the people she had met before disappeared.

… some she had just met, others who proved to give her hope.

Clothes slid over the frail frame of her body, hands scooping under blue locks and pulling them out of the collar and slipping on sandals stiffly. When was the last time she had left her apartment like this to explore? To see the sights, pick and poke at everything that could be reached in order to understand this environment she had never seen in her life. Leaving to her job was different, of course… yet it didn’t fill the void of her hollow chest.

Sunlight shone down on her as she stepped outside, chest raising greatly with a deep breath of fresh, morning air. Gentle breezes swept pass her with no care; to her in this world, she had lost the color in her vision, to see vibrant happiness and beauty within all that was around her.

A bitter look was flashed as her heart began to ache.  … now everything has become shrouded in a shade of monochrome. ”

Hands clutched at the white dress before she leaned back against the wall next to the doorway, sliding down and pulling her knees to her chest. Tears welled at the corner of her eyes, a whining sound resonating from within her throat as if threatening to let her tears start pouring.

Her path deterred; a lone fish with nobody in the vast ocean to belong to.

Last she recalled she had been sleeping in her apartment.

Cold metal brushed the bottom of her foot, teal hues appearing from behind opening lids as she pushed herself up from where she had been laying. For a moment the lonely fish thought it was a dream, something reminding her of the past she had left behind months ago.

A dream she wished leave behind.

… one that would always haunt her until she could move on.

Everything felt familiar, even the sound of the door shutting and footsteps walking towards her as she moved to wrap her hands around the choker once used. An incomplete chain dangled gently at the edge, just like she had left it. Lips curled into a smile as she moved to place it on, latching it as she let delicate hands slide down the links, twirling in joy at returning to where she once belonged.

“ Company? 

The sound of his voice made a tingling sensation run through her spine, head whipping to look at the man. Opening the cage door was simple, the girl’s small frame darting over to the man as tears began to well at the corners of her eyes, arms wrapping around him. “ Reiji, I’m so happy to see —

A shift was all it took before her body was moved harshly away, pain throbbing in her lower abdomen from where he had hit her. Hands rested, stepping back as she stared wide eyed at the one she once claimed as her own.

“ I told you to get out the last time we spoke. What makes you think this is any different, fish girl? You’re useless to me now, nothing that I want. Leave before I make you go myself. 

His words hurt… her chest tight like her heart had been wrenched dry of all happiness. Metal scraped the floor from her chains, the man before her narrowing his eyes. A second later and glass shattered, the girl’s face stinging with a small slice along her cheek from the item he’d thrown.

With a turn and whimper, the girl ran off to seek shelter in the outside world, hand over her cheek as she made her way to find help.

Ah, he hadn’t expected a visitor! Of course, Hiver was always excited to meet someone new and this city was teeming with such life, so much hustle and bustle that there was present, the opportunity to always meet a new face. And he would never pass up such opportunities! Always seeking after a roman, of course, as well as connecting with other people, something he could not do before — he was happy for this chance, grateful that he could do this.

Oui, it is cold but — I really cannot feel it! But oui again! I do really like the snow, I’ve never been able to feel it before like this.

The boy of winter’s name soon sprouted up into a stand with an easy hop up, he smiled brightly and extended one hand forth to the girl with teal eyes in greeting — as he had seen that was what was usually done! He was curious to know the girl’s story but for now, he should definitely introduce himself first! That was usually the polite thing to do, wasn’t it? Hiver really hadn’t a clue, this was just all things he picked up from being in the city and being around others. He hoped it was the right thing to do, not that he had much else to go off of. Regardless!

It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mademoiselle! My name is Hiver~!

Surely after introducing himself he was fine to ask his fabled question now, yes? He was always eager to learn! Whether the romans were of the person themselves or just tales to be told, he loved to hear each and every kind of story! He chuckled a bit, rocking back and forth on his  boots.

Ah, I wonder if a roman can be found here?

Ah, so this had to be the boy’s first time seeing snow like this, too!

Fortunately there would be plenty, knowing how this place worked. Somehow it felt welcoming, knowing there was another who enjoyed the snow and could endure the cold without a problem. Watching his hand extend to her, too, was a great pleasure — not many had bothered to greet her in this form, always being careful as to who they spoke to our touched.

Reaching forward herself, her hand wrapped around his in a shake. Optics closed as she listened to his name, taking in all that she could about where he might be from… France, perhaps? With how he talked, one might assume yet she didn’t wish to intrude on him too much so early on in their meeting.

It’s a pleasure to meet you as well, Hiver! You can call me Sakana.

Watching his actions had become amusing to the blunette, a small chuckle returning at how playful he was. To be able to meet these types of people was one of the better things Sakana could be thankful for. Yet at his new question, her thought was pulled from this as a finger rested on her lip.

At first it didn’t make sense, but the girl soon pieced it together. You mean stories, right? You’re speaking French and a roman is a novel, from what I recall.

I don’t mind telling you one, though it would depend on what kind of story you’d liked to hear!

Hiver had appeared to had arrived at a very interesting time of month. Not only did the snowflakes fall all around him, but there was some sort of tradition he had not known about! Something called, Christmas, was it? Hiver had never left the border of life and death, thus he never knew of this holiday and all that it entailed — presents and holiday cheer, traditions and all of that jazz.

What caught his interests was this Santa Claus, he had heard so much of! Apparently, if one were to write a letter to this man — then they would get what they desired in the letter! Hiver had no clue what to write and was currently musing it over as he sat among the snowy filled sixth sector’s park. He eventually did write something down, of course. Though, it was most likely very odd to others, what he had written down;

Dear Monsieur Claus,

I am not sure what to write! This is my very first letter to you and I believe what I want is simple, you see.

All I want to know….

Can a roman be found here?

Yes, to the boy named after winter — a letter such as this was perfectly normal! He smiled and held the parchment to his chest before kicking his booted legs back and forth where he sat. Surely the Monsier Claus would bring him a roman for this Christmas holiday! The boy was excited and couldn’t wait for it, ah but he had to deliver this, didn’t he? With a determined nod soon after, Hiver tightly held to the letter, preparing to send it off very soon.

Such a snowy day, the the north maiden couldn’t help but be out and wandering. Thankfully she had been able to save up for a jacket and a pair of boots, much better than wearing a plain white dress as she had been. And so she decided to test them out on this eve of Christmas. Snow crunched under her strides, the girl’s breath puffing in balls of white as her kind smile showed.

That was, until she happened upon a curious boy.

Strange markings on his face was what initially pulled her towards him, the curiosity growing as she slowed her pace. Approaching him could be rude, but he seemed so vibrant that it was hard to act like she wasn’t interested in what he might be doing. Leave it to Sakana to be a bit nosy, always wondering about the people she was now surrounded by in this unknown city.

Stopping in front of him, a smile still gracing her lips, she gave a small wave to make her presence known… until she leaned forward to get a peek at the paper he was writing, teal hues blinking in wonder as to what he could be writing. Whatever it was, she’d be sure to stop if he wasn’t interested in sharing the information!

Might as well get a bit of conversation going, right?

It’s pretty cold out, I’m shocked to see someone sitting and writing out here. You must really like the snow, if that’s the case.

An empty existence

An animal. That’s what Irisviel could describe her situation as right now. Being the animal of an experiment. Being pulled from those whom she cared about to participate in what a man seemed to be doing for science? Could things get anymore cruel than that? It didn’t exactly bother her that most of her magecraft abilities were taken and her alchemic wire was replaced by some yarn. Those were all things that Irisviel could live without. But without her family here, it seemed more like a cage than an entire city.

She would cling to the yarn tightly, because at the moment it would be the only source of comfort she’d have at the moment. Leaving behind her family against her will, she walked aimlessly through the city, her eyes glazed and a blank stare looking upon the lights of the illuminated landscape. She let out a sigh. Was this her new life? If so for how long? If she was even allowed to go back?

Wandering the city had become the new hobby of the young fish.

Arms were up as if she were a child playing a simple game of airplane, a twirl in the air as blue locks followed behind her. It was only when her eyes laid upon a new figure she’d never seen before, one who stood out from the typical pedestrians that had always lived in this city.

Such a solemn expression, her features reminding her of the first day she appeared in this city. Perhaps she was new, the woman seeming to be lost with how she walked with no specific direction. Better to go and introduce herself and try to help while she could, right?

With a trot over, hand on her hat to keep it from flying away, she gave a welcoming smile. Hello there! I take it you’re a newer resident to Hive City, right?
